The Class 55.0 is a German G10 (Class 57) Locomotive.
The 55.0 are plain Prussian G10 freight locomotives. It is likely that the first G10 in Turkey were former KPEV (Royal Prussian Railways) engines transferred during World War I and soon after. Subsequently the CFOA (Ottoman Anatolian Railways) and then TCDD continued to order them because these engines suited very well the needs of the country. The 55.0 were used well into the 1980's.
